PLANTAIN - Plantago Lanceolata. Family Plantaginaceae

Plantain is a perennial herbaceous plant 10 to 60 cm high, common in Asia and Europe. Blooms from April to October.

Components: Iridoic heterosides, phenylethanoids, mucilages, flavonoids, tannins, phenolic acids, coumarin, essential oil.

Plantain, a plant that soothes the irritation of the horse's bronchial tubes. 

Plantain helps to soothe irritations of the upper respiratory tract and bronchial tubes. This plant also has interesting properties in case of pollen allergy such as allergic rhinitis (in this case, associate it with echinacea to reinforce the anti-allergic action).

Plantain can also be used externally to relieve insect bites, mouth sores and skin irritations.

In the early 1980s, a few clinical trials confirmed the efficacy of plantain for the treatment of chronic bronchitis. The efficacy of plantain is generally attributed to the mucilage it contains. This substance softens and calms the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract.
