1978 : Creation of the company and launch of ointments

The company's adventure began in the late 1970s. The founders of the company, Mr. and Mrs. Mathorel, began manufacturing ointments made from Laurier oil and guaranteed tar-free.

The range, initially composed of blond and black ointments, is gradually being enriched with a Keratin version and a Cade oil version intended for wet periods. The specificity of the recipe and the method of manufacture make it a top quality product that is perfectly resistant to temperature variations.

The range of ointments now includes more than 20 references.

Each formula is available in multiple formats (from the 500ml jar to the 20kg bucket) and in liquid version.

1990: The range of care products is created.

In addition to the production of ointments, Laboratoire ESC uses its know-how in gels and ointments and launches new hoof care products. The Hippercorn with sweet almond oil, known for its regenerative properties of the horn, is created following a special order for horses of complete horses participating in the Australian Olympic Games.

The company is also diversifying into the tendons and joints segment by developing lotions and preparations designed to relieve the limbs after exercise (Equitendon gel, Astrinjambe, Hippo tendons plus...).

Skin care products, shampoos, disinfectant solutions, care creams for wounds, sores, blemishes, warts and insect protection lotions will gradually complete the range.

2000: Launch of dietary supplements

In order to respond to the growing interest of riders and owners for complementary phythotherapeutic products, Laboratoire ESC uses its knowledge of plants to diversify its offer.

A branch specialising in phytotherapy and phytonutrition through the production of herbal food supplements is created. The number of plant components purchased in cut form or in essential oils, entering into the composition of the products diversifies in order to select the natural properties adapted to the multiple equine pathologies and fragilities.

Today more than 100 different species are used in the composition of the products, most of which are enriched with vitamins, minerals, seaweed and trace elements. The range, which includes more than 90 references, contributes to the proper functioning of the equine organism by being part of a specific dietary programme that is complementary to the basic ration.

2016: Disposal of the company

After 40 years of commitment to equine well-being and performance, the founders of Laboratoire ESC sell their company.

The buyer, Caroline de Rosière, a passionate rider convinced of the quality of the company's products, takes over the management of the Laboratory after 18 years in the food industry. The ambition is to enhance the know-how of the company while preserving the manufacturing methods and recipes that have made the company famous.

At the end of 2017, Marc Burin des Roziers, equine veterinarian and expert in horse care products, joins the company. His technical expertise and contribution in terms of formulation, quality control and selection of raw materials strengthens the company's expertise in the equine phytotherapy segment.

Thanks to its experience, the ESC laboratory has acquired a unique knowledge and know-how in the field of ointments, care products and food supplements. Our products, which are distributed throughout France as well as in Spain, Belgium, Germany and Switzerland, are now recognized by many veterinarians, breeders and farriers.

The company is therefore led to develop while remaining faithful to its demand for quality and efficiency.
