Licorice is a perennial plant, of the subfamily Faboideae. Known for its highly aromatic rhizomatous roots, it has been used since antiquity for therapeutic and culinary purposes. Native to southern Europe and Asia, licorice needs a warm climate and grows preferentially in fertile and humid soil.

Components: glycyrrhizic acid, coumarin, maltol, flavonoids, including: liquiritoside, isoliquiritoside, phytosterins, alkaloids, saponins, phytoestrogens, as well as mammal, asparagine, steroids.
