Marine algae: real mineral traps:
Algae are born and grown in water in which sodium chloride accounts for 90% of the dissolved mineral salts. However, they are not loaded with salt and select minerals. The lithothamne for example is rich in Calcium, magnesium and iron, minerals retained at concentrations 18 500 times higher than seawater. The laminar is rich in potassium (concentration multiplied by 42) and especially iodine (multiplier: 13,330). Fucus is a source of copper (multiplier: 1,000).
