From a tufted shrub up to 1.50 m tall, native to temperate regions of Europe, Asia Minor and Himalayas, the Cassis has fragrant, lobed and toothed leaves. Its reddish flowers inside and greenish outside are arranged in hanging clusters. The parts of the plant used are leaves, fruits, buds and seed oil. Known for centuries for its many benefits, Cassis is a beneficial plant.

Thanks to its buds, one obtains a very effective concentrated macerate, the most used in Gemmotherapy. Its benefits are many:

The interest of Gemmotherapy is that it uses embryonic tissues of plants to affect the organism. These tissues are extracted from parts of plants still growing (on buds or young shoots) which are particularly concentrated in active substances (minerals, vitamins, phytohormone) necessary for the proper development of the plant and its protection against external aggression. These parts of plants are then macerated in a mixture water – alcohol – glycerin for several weeks. Then we get a concentrated mother macerate, also called hydroalcoholic extract of fresh buds.

Cassis macerate is the most complete of the buds, thanks in particular to its cortisone-lijke properties which give it soothing virtues in case of joint sensitivity. This macerate also supports immune defenses and soothes respiratory discomfort or seasonal sensitivities. It is also useful in case of fatigue.
