The edible fig tree is one of the important plants in the Mediterranean basin where it has been cultivated for millennia. He is the only European representative of the genre Ficus which includes nearly six hundred species, most of them tropical.

Thanks to its buds, one obtains a very effective concentrated macerate, the most used in Gemmotherapy. His benefits are many.

The use of fig buds in Gemmotherapy is recent and is of interest for its wide spectrum action. Indeed, the fig bud macerate has balancing properties and a natural soothing action. It is known both for its regulatory properties on the nervous balance, but also its soothing action on the digestive system.

This natural extract is therefore particularly recommended in anxious horses and subject to stress-related digestive disorders.

The interest of Gemmotherapy is that it uses the embryonic tissues of plants to act on the organism. These tissues are extracted from parts of plants still growing (bubble or young shoots) which are particularly concentrated in active ingredients (minerals, vitamins, phytohormone) necessary for the proper development of the plant and its protection against external aggression. These plant parts are then macerated in a water – alcohol – glycerin mixture for several weeks. A concentrated mother macerate, also called a hydroalcoholic extract of fresh buds, is obtained.
