LITHOTHAMNE – Lithothamnium calcareum. Corallinaceae family

The lithothamne is a limestone seaweed that has the peculiarity of capturing the minerals contained in seawater in ionized form. The lithothamne is purple red. It is found on the Atlantic coast, especially in Brittany but also in the Mediterranean at depths of 15 to 20cm.

Components : minerals (calcium, sodium, magnesium, iodine, iron, manganese, silica...), amino acids, vitamin C, aspartic acid and glutamic acid, alginates.

The lithothamne is an ocean algae is a source of calcium and magnesium easily assimilated. The lithothamne is useful in case of ration carencée or demineralisation. This algae is also recommended for gastric acidity.
Minerals and trace elements crystallize once seaweed is collected. It thus becomes an excellent alkaline source. For this reason, the lithothamne is composed of 33% calcium carbonate.
